My first visit to the USA was in September 2001. We flew out on September 8th, 3 days before 9/11. As we were on a tight budget, we were camping for most of this holiday, but did treat ourselves to a couple of hotels en-route.

Not detered by the tragic events of 9/11 we have re-visited the U.S.A. on several occasions since.
